As the title suggests, this game technically has unlimited gameplay (“free to play”). What the player is offered, though, is extremely limited. Fuel and credits are currencies awarded upon the initial acquisition of the game and players are given the option to have more via microtransactions. Credits are needed to purchase airplanes and upgrades as well as additional stages, however, this is counterproductive since the stages cost a ridiculous amount and in the end do not amount to many initial upgrades and plane purchases. Fuel is required to go on missions and is periodically doled out at an unsatisfying clip. Players must be willing to grind ludicrous amounts to get anywhere.
The main way to acquire resources is through four player multiplayer to take on objectives such as blowing up aerial, heavily armed superfortresses. It’s a shame players only have access to a few odd missions even at this stage in the game’s lifespan. All in all, this addition to the Ace Combat series is severely lacking in content.
