Now known as Bungie’s “other” flagship franchise, Destiny has claimed the money and time of many millions. While trying to sweeten the deal for newcomers during its now two year existence Destiny has alienated players who have been on board since day one with a bunch of poorly implemented and poorly explained progression mechanics. It feels as though the game goes through a massive overhaul every so often that benefits new players but still taxes those who have spent hundreds (yes hundreds) of hours on the thing including this writer.
I have an intense love/hate relationship with the game. The shooting feels and looks great. PVP and PVE is a blast (partial to PVP). The game looks and sounds great. The real test, however, is the patience of gamers. Equippable loot takes a long, long time to boost and is often overshadowed by any subsequent update. Even Bungie’s CEO admitted more or less to exploiting gamers before he was fired. Be prepared to be frustrated but not as frustrated as the so-called “vets.” The game is now accessible more than ever but don’t be surprised to feel or express disappointment with future updates. Your call.
