This is the DICE Star Wars experience gamers are looking for, buried underneath EA’s burgeoning mistake: a truly awful progression system. This game easily possesses the worst multiplayer advancement mechanics I’ve ever seen in a video game. The playing field was leveled a bit when micro-transactions were taken out but the loot box system still allows a horrific amount of duplicate Star Cards given to gamers. Every duplicate rare and uncommon card I obtain leaves me feeling a little dead inside and chilled from EA’s indifference to the needs of legions of folks buying what is supposed to be an awesome game.
And I still think this game is awesome. The graphics and sound are unparalleled. Laser fire and epic music clash in iconic Star Wars battles painstakingly recreated by DICE. I’ve even learned to live with the progression system because I’ve put enough time into the game to have a decent array of Star Cards for all of my troops and heroes. There is still good in this game even though much of it remains shadowed by the Dark Side.
